Bridging The Gap Between Mental Illness & Mental Health!
At the Life Skills IQ (LSIQ) Institute, our mission is to empower individuals through effective life skills training materials that reduce mental illness and promote mental wellness. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to acquire essential life skills that can foster both personal and professional growth. We create REPRODUCIBLE workbooks for all helping professionals.
About the Workbooks
Each workbook contains fully reproducible activities for groups and individuals and is available as a print book, an eBook, or a combo pack. Perfect for counselors, social workers, teachers, group facilitators, and healthcare providers working with teens and adults. Individuals struggling with anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, or disruptive behavior will also benefit from the exercises and discussions.
All Workbooks Use The LSIQ Model
The pages of each workbook John has created use a specific model known as Life Skills IQ Training. LSIQ is a model John developed over time to represent the "ideal" therapeutic approach. Therapists using the REPRODUCIBLE WORKBOOKS can easily and effectively implement the Life Skills Training approach in individual and group therapy. The LSIQ Training model enhances "personality plasticity" and includes:
Step 1: Clients self-reflect to identify repetitive life skills patterns resulting from compulsive personality reactions.
Step 2: Clients discover hidden repetitive, automatic, unconscious, and/or habitual thinking, feeling, and acting personality reactions through the stories they tell.
Step 3: Clients rewire their brains and reshape their personalities through Life Skills IQ Training and TFA personality plasticity.
Step 4: Clients expand the cortical maps of their brains through life-Skills-based routines, repetitive practice, and personality habit formation.
The Life Skills IQ Training process Bridges the Gap Between Mental Illness and Mental Health
At Life Skills IQ, we utilize a new Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Model that ensures client success, regardless of the person's issues. Life Skills IQ creates high-quality, reproducible psycho-education materials and training for all helping professionals.
Life Skills IQ (LSIQ) Training is a form of training and therapy that focuses on helping people cope, function, and then flourish. LSIQ Training was developed over the last thirty years by John Liptak as he created his reproducible workbooks.
John believes that Life Skills IQ Training both prevents mental health problems and helps to bridge the gap between mental illness and mental health. The premise of this program is that people need to develop the life skills necessary to change their emotional, behavioral, and thinking patterns that are causing problems in their daily lives.
Neuroplasticity: LSIQ Training rewires the brain and reshapes personality, enabling quick adaptation, perspective shifts, and the learning of critical life skills through deliberate practice.
Mental Agility: LSIQ Training helps clients rewire their brains to be more mentally agile.
Therapeutic Treatment Programs: Complete treatment program with reproducible workbooks and training.
Personality Reconstruction: Clients learn to reprogram their personality so they do not engage in habitual thinking, feeling, and acting.
Learn More Effective Skills: Replace old, ineffective life skills with ones that improve mental health.

Life skills are the most important skills people can possess. They are definitely more important than a person’s intelligence quotient (IQ). They are invaluable skills people use every day that, if used effectively, allow them to create the life they desire and access the inner resources needed to succeed.* Life skills are necessary to help people take charge and manage their personal and professional lives in an increasingly complex society. Life skills also help people manage change and deal effectively with their environments and the people in those environments. All people possess life skills that dictate their level of effectiveness in meeting the demands of everyday life.
Current thinking in modern psychology suggests that intelligence about daily life skills may be more important than having a high IQ. Several reasons for this include:
Steps in Life Skills IQ Training and Four Stages of Competence:
Step 1: Pattern Identification correlates with Unconscious Incompetence: Unaware of life skills and lack of proficiency.
Step 2: Focused Storytelling correlates with Conscious Incompetence: Aware of life skills but not proficient.
Step 3: Intentional Upskilling correlates with Conscious Competence: Learning to use life skills with effort.
Step 4: Habit Formation correlates with Unconscious Competence: Mastery to perform life skills automatically.
Many different skills comprise the Life Skills IQ concept:
