He recently founded the LifeSkills IQ Institute to research, develop materials, and promote the efficacy of life skills in preventing mental illness and promoting mental wellness.

John's best-selling book, The Life Skills IQ Test, is now twenty years old! Back then, John introduced the notion to people that life skills were as essential, maybe even more critical, to a person's development as their intelligence quotient (IQ). John's reproducible life skills curricula are used worldwide to help people meet their needs, prevent and treat mental illnesses, and cope with life's challenges.  John has researched the efficacy of life skills both nationally and internationally.

About The Life Skills IQ Institute

The LifeSkills IQ (LSIQ) Institute is a prominent organization dedicated to researching ways to help people live with joy, hope, and resilience.  The LSIQ Institute was founded by John Liptak in 2005, following his discovery that life skills intelligence is more critical for success than general intelligence (IQ). John believes that Life Skills IQ Training helps prevent mental health problems, reduce existing problems, and help people manage mental health illness and substance abuse recovery.

The LSIQ Institute is dedicated to exploring the origins of human suffering and understanding humanity's need for positive mental health. The LSIQ Institute is determined to find ways to help people move from mental illness to mental wellness. Some of the projects we are working on at the LSIQ Institute include:

  • Helping people in despair to find hope.
  • Exploring ways to defang depression.
  • Identifying ways to manage the change involved in major transitions.

The LSIQ Institute helps people develop the necessary life skills to thrive, not just survive, in our complex and chaotic world. We work with seven publishers to research, develop, and create psycho-educational materials for teens and adults. John offers training, curriculum development programs, product development, assessment development, educational, and outreach programs.
